"Huckleberry Finn"

The Kölner Künstler Theater is a children’s and youth theatre that is run by Ruth and Georg zum Kley. During the week we perform in our attractive theatre (with café) in the Ehrenfeld district of Cologne, mainly for nurseries, kindergartens and schools. At the weekends families come to see us. We also tour Germany and participate in festivals.

We do imaginative, dedicated and professional theatre that always has its audience in mind. Our workshops’ main aim is the cultural education of disadvantaged young people. We are supported by the Arts Department of the city of Cologne and we are also in receipt of a three-year project support grant from the federal state of North-Rhine Westphalia. Foundations such as the RheinEnergieStiftung Jugend/Beruf, Wissenschaft support our workshop activities.

Our youth theatre plays address a wide variety of subjects and look at young people’s problems, while also being suitable for adults. We perform our youth theatre plays in schools, youth centres, community centres and theatres. Our plays focus on current issues, they are authentic, realistic, informed and emotionally moving.

Our children’s theatre is designed for events with children, for kindergartens and for schools. Our children’s plays are lively and unconventional and they are tailored to their audiences. We often work with puppets, but our shows are always theatrical. Our plays also leave their impression on adults.
